Buon Giorno del Ringraziamento a tutti i soci di World War!
"My God! how little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy!"
Such were the words of an American Patriot of yore, Thomas Jefferson of Virginia, as with his restless mind he wandered from the hills of Massachusetts to the backwoods of Virginia - and yet, he wasn´t celebrating only the glory of an American sunset over the plains his posteriority would tame through toughness and sacrifice, many years later; he wasn´t praising only a strip of land, though stretching from sea to shining sea: he was cherishing the blessings of a people, of a culture, of a Nation.
When the Pilgrims first stepped on the American shore, their stern, impassioned stress had already beaten a thoroughfare for Freedom across the wilderness. They followed the fading sun to the last land on Earth the sun would embrace with the rays of its twilight, escaping from the nightmare of persecution and intolerance which yoked in its throes an entire continent, too secularized to retain the sober purity befitting to a Republican government, with an unconquerable yearning in their minds and their hearts, a yearning they could only dare to whisper under the heel of European despots and tyrants, and only now, across the Ocean, they could speak with inspired voice: Freedom.
Those men were craving for Freedom, and Freedom was what America offered them. They confirmed their soul in self-control, their Liberty in law, for they believed they had subscribed a double compact, with God and with their fellow Christians: the first to abide in his heavenly laws, the others to mutually defend in their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. Never would they forget what they had endured while on foreign shore, never would they take for granted what they had been given in that free land in which their lot had been cast; and, when they finally harvested the fruits of their hard work on American soil, they would not forget the benign hand that had lead them to such a land blessed with wild beauty and manly brotherhood.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty; to America his love divine had lead the Pilgrims, in America his love divine is still nourishing us, sons of Liberty. Today we gather together to arouse our grateful song before the throne of the Majesty of Heaven; thus, let every mortal tongue awake and every voice join in our anthem and, as the starry Flag unfurls, let Freedom rings from every altar and fireside, in the land of the Pilgrims´ pride.
May this Thanksgiving remind you of those blessings you, as free Americans, enjoy, may it add your testimony to that of every thinking American, in order to satisfy our countrymen how much it is their interest to preserve uninfected by contagion those peculiarities in their government and manners to which they are indebted for these blessings, and may it make you adore your own country, its soil, its climate, its equality, liberty, laws, people and manners.
May God bless America as He´s always done, and y´all have a great Thanksgiving Day.
