Brixia
Buona sera,
Sorry for writing in English.
I have a question concerning interwar Italian "Brixia" light machine guns.
According to Soviet printed sources of 1930-1940s, the following Brixia machine guns have existed:
1. Brixia M5 (M.5? M-5?) - according to Soviet Military Encyclopedia (1933)
it was of barrel short recoil design, 7.92 mm (?) and fed from a twenty
round magazine
2. Brixia M1930 - it was of blowback design; 2 pictures related to
Brixia M1930 are included below : the general view and operating
procedure.
I have found no information on these weapons in the Internet. Can anyone help me with the data concerning these LMGs?

maybe the Russians were wrong....are you sure it is an italian machinegun?
Hope someone can help you...good luck!

Hi!
Maybe.. The most interesting thing is that these light machine are mentioned in the Soviet specialist literature only: by Fyodorov (the designer of the first Russian assault rifle M1916 "avtomat") and Blagonravov (automaticweapons theorist).
I have found no other traces in the Internet

Perhaps yuo searched in wrong places: these are the same drawings that we can find in an old article from the Italian magazine "Diana Armi".
I have it but my scanner is now on strike and so I cannot send it to you.

Understood, thank you!
By the way - can anyone help me with defining the exact year and the issue of the "Diana Armi" magazine (presented above), which contains an article by Marco Morin on the Mitragliatrice Brixia 930 LMG?

Since everything is clear now with Brixia 930 light machine gun (thanks to Kanister), perhaps someone can help with another Brixia light machine gun – Brixia M5, sometimes referred to (in prewar Russian sources) as M.5 or M-5
According to old Russian sources it was:
1. Year of model: unknown, but certainly before 1933, since it was first mentioned in the Soviet Military Encyclopaedia, Vol 2, which was published in 1933
2. Calibre: specially designed to fit German 7.92 cartridge
3. Feeding: box magazine, 20 rounds
4. Operation: barrel short recoil
5. Mount: bipod
6. Overall weight: 8.8 kg
7. Cooling: air
8. Technical rate of fire: 400-500 per minute
9. Effective rate of fire: 150 per minute
10. Barrel length: 500 mm
I have found no traces of such a weapon in the Internet

Never heard of Italian lmg in 7,92mm. Only gun I know is the '91 modified by the Germans at the end of WWII.
Are you sure that it was not the Breda 5C, that was however in 6,5mm.
-
Have no idea at all. Perhaps it was an experimental piece?
-
Since have touched on the subject of Italian machine guns, I have one more question - did there exist and aircraft / aviation variant of Fiat 1926 machine gun - under the designation of FIAT 1926 A? Like Fiat 1928 A?
Thank you
-
About the FIAT LMGs I suggest you to read the book "Italian Small Arms of the First and Second World Wars" written by a friend of mine: Ralph Riccio.
Both guns arer well covered.
