I received this rifle as a birthday gift from my wife. It is a m1893 Turkish Mauser. They were provided, through contact, to the Turks in 1895-96. They were originally in 7.65 caliber, but were rebored to 7.9mm(8mm) in the 1930's. The Sultan's "toughra" was scrubbed at that time and the new refurb/change date was placed on the receiver at that time. This m1893 still retains the original straight stock which is a plus. I wish I had an original/untouched m1893 in original 7.65mm but they are very hard to find here. Notice the left over Turkish writing on the left side of the receiver.
