Il mio Amico Robert Martin Murphy è spirato questa notte allo Hyannis Port Hospital a causa di un cancro al fegato.Bob era un Paratroopers dell'82nd A/B ed aveva partecipato ai lanci in Italia,in Normandia ed in Olanda che videro protagonista il 505 PIR di cui lui faceva parte e di cui ancora oggi era tanto orgoglioso.
Vorrei onorarlo con la preghiera che recitavano i Paratroopers...
Almighty God,Our Heavenly Father;
Who art above us and beneath us,within us and around us;
Drive from the minds of our paratroops any fear of the space in which Thou art never present.Give them confidence in the strenght of Thine Everlasting arms uphold them.
Endue them with clean minds and pure hearts that they may participate worthily in the victory which this nation must achieve in Thy Name and through Thy Will.
Make them hardy soldiers of our country as well as Thy Son,Our Savior ,Jesus Christ.
Ragazzi,per me era come un nonno,e quindi,in questo momento non riesco a dire di più.Lo saluto come ci salutavamo al termine delle nostre telefonate,con il motto della 82nd A/B:ALL THE WAY!!!
