Ho ritrovato il vecchio post in cui chiedevo lumi su quell'elmetto e qui c'è l'identificazione da parte di Bill M. ed una foto dell'esemplare nella sua collezione.
"guys, you're both wrong! i have several British & Commonwealth helmets, & can assure you that the helmet in question is a late British mk.2.the maker is Rubery Owen & Co.(R.O.&CO-the latter part of the stamp is hidden by the chinstrap lug, which sometimes happened)P-the batch letter, !943 the year of manufacture, IMO this is a scarce one, as the mk.3 was manufactured in 1944.this helmet has been re-issued by the post-war Greek Army, & has been re-linered & with the narrow leather chinstrap, with what appears to be a buckle from a pair of British webbing gaiters! (identical in any case).the struts of the liner should be aluminium instead of the standard black fibreboard, the rexine leathercloth will be of a shiny brown plastic-like material.the Greeks also used many South African mk1* helmet shells, which can be discerned by 3 holes drilled through the rear of the rim.i have at least 3 of these helmets, & would say they're collectable in their own right.thanks for showing it & i hope i've been helpful."
