Trattasi di bandiera da guerra della Marina da Guerra (Reichskriegsflagge) modello 1937; potrebbe anche trattarsi di Gą“rschflagge o bandiera da nave da guerra, a seguire le varie ordinanze della KM.
Riguardo quest'ultima ipotesi cito testualmente dall'Angolia, Uniforms and Traditions of the KM, vol.3, pg.332
"The German term Gą“rsch or Gą“rschflagge was used only for the bow flag of war vessels i.e. vessels under the Reich war flag. The bow flag of vessel of the navy, which carried the Reich service flag, was termed Bugflagge or bow flag."
A seguire le dimensioni, sembrerebbe, in base all'ordinanza del 18/08/1939 nr.672, e con qualche cm di tolleranza, che la Bow flag fosse in dotazione alle unitą* navali che dislocavano circa 6000 tonnellate.
