Per reggimenti "Reali" si intendono quei reggimenti che nel nome hanno l'appellativo "reale" o che fanno riferimento direttamente al monarca (pre-1952). Per i reggimenti scozzesi:
- Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment) (fino al 2006), poi Royal Regiment of Scotland
- King's Own Scottish Borderers (fino al 2006), poi Royal Regiment of Scotland
- Royal Scots Fusiliers (fino al 1959), poi Royal Highland Fusiliers (fino al 2006), poi Royal Regiment of Scotland
- Royal Highland Regiment (Black Watch) (fino al 2006), poi Royal regiment of Scotland
- Royal Scots Greys (fino al 1971), poi Royal Scots Dragoon Guards

Di questi, solo i primi tre della lista indossano il glengarry con la fascia a scacchi a tre colori, il Black Watch e i Royal Scots Dragoon Guards indossano il glengarry "neutro" (senza fascia a scacchi)
