"Yesterday Slovenian police uncovered a mine hallway closed by wooden beams and nine meters of earth and lime finding partially mummified remains of 300 persons killed in summer `45 by a battalion of Slovenian partisans. Victims were either gassed or more likely buried alive. After clearing the hallway police will search nearby shafts so the number of bodies will probably be significantly higher.

The biggest mass grave in Slovenia was uncovered during motorway construction a year and a half ago, containing remains of over 15.000 victims and so far over 50 similar mass graves were located.

It is officially estimated that between May and August 1945 200.000 persons were killed in Slovenia by the National Liberation Army. Majority of these were soldiers and militiamen from Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia which were repatriated from Austria by the British Army."
