Buongiorno a tutti, sono riuscito a portare a casa questo stupendo Liner 1° tipo in cartone (con ancora attaccato il chinstrap)

Lo daterei come produzione tra primavera/estate del 1942 per via del slide buckles in acciaio zincato (i primi prodotti erano in ottone brunito)

Ho trovato in 2 punti sulla neck suspension band e loop bands il marchio "V" della Vogt manufacturing corporation

I rivetti United carr


La persona da cui l'ho comprato č la figlia del soldato: mi ha detto che il padre era arruolato nel US Navy, era a bordo di una nave nel Pacifico, mi ha mandato un certificato, non ne so molto a riguardo, qualcuno sa di cosa si tratta?

Complimenti molto bello il liner, da quello che ho capito era un ufficiale di marina ,
mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere il guscio di questo liner ( magari era anche fregiato)

Ciao Francesco, molto probabilmente č lui, la figlia mi ha scritto questo:

My father was Bentley Hite. Born 12/26/1900, died Feb. 18, 2002. He was an attorney, grew up on a farm in Virginia (we still have the land), and graduated from law school with a doctorate in 1928. He served as Commonwealths Attorney in our county and was principal of the High School and coached football. He volunteered for the U.S. Navy just before Pearl Harbor . He was trained in Officers Training School in New York. He served as Naval Intelligence Officer in Norfolk, Va. involved in German Submarine intelligence, until 1944 when he was transferred to the Seventh Fleet in the Pacific. He was Lt. Commander of a fleet of destroyers and reported to Gen. McArthur for a period of time during the Phillipine Invasion and the battle of Leyte Gulf. He told me many times how he stood on the deck and gave the orders to fire at the Japanese planes as then dived bombed in the sky above and how he saw his men blown up all around him. After the Phillipine battles, he was transferred to New Guinea with McArthurs staff. He served as JAG officer after the war in Australia until 1948. He came home and served in the Va. House of Delegates. In 1951 he went on a blind date and met my mother. He was 50 years old. They married in June of that year. It was his first marriage. My mother was 32. I was born in December 1952. I have a younger sister, but she is uninterested in everything.

when you get the Hawley, you will see his name written in his own hand, in several places inside the liner. There is also a strange quirk, he used a safety pin to adjust the canvas strap to fit his head just right. I didn't take it out.
I thank you for taking this and keeping the tradition alive. I hope it is appreciated by many.

Molto bello il liner e la sua storia. Era proprio il caso di tenere liner e guscio insieme.

Certo che vendere un oggetto appartenuto al proprio padre, e oltre tutto a pezzi separati cosė, mah....non credo ne abbiano ricavato una cifra da risolvere la vita...

Il liner č comunque bellissimo.
