Una foto e una storia che mi ha particolarmente colpito, è il Tigre "231" comandato dal Leutnant Zabel del schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503.
La storia pare uscita da un recente copione cinematografico: circondato da preponderanti forze russe, fu colpito per be 252 volte da colpi di diverso calibro, ma nonostante tutto e senza gravi danni, percorse 60 chilometri prima di raggiungere le proprie linee. Venne rimandato indietro per le riparazioni, ma poi si decise di lasciarlo così, onde "galvanizzare" gli equipaggi tedeschi che avrebbero fatto istruzione su quel poderoso mezzo apparentemente indistruttibile!!

Tiger ‘231’ of Leutnant Zabel from schwere Panzer-Abteilung 503 was hit 252 times by fire from all calibres during combat near Ssemernikovo, on the outskirts of Rostov-on-Don on 11 February 1943. The tank was able to be driven a further 60km to the rear area and returned to the unit. Later, the tank was returned to Germany (note the transport tracks) but it is not known whether this tank was repaired.
